Okay slightly over melodramatic because in 19 months of ownership something finally happened and broke. Got a dash warning light come on on the dash.
A bulb was out according to the car, but there was no bulbs out I could find. I checked front and rear fogs, DRLs, side lights, main beams, full beams (which are really painfully bright), indicators, footwell lights, rear view mirror night ambient lights, courtesy light in the front, rear, doors and the many in the boot (trunk) (even the removable torch in the boot and licence plate lights glove box lights and vanity lights. Nothing. Took it to the Skoda dealer and only when there did I notice a slight dull bit in the rear passenger light. In my defence each rear light cluster has four side lights (one doubles as a brake light), indicator light, fog light and reverse light.
They replaced it as we were there, free of charge. and arranged to go back in april to buy our next one (I've already got the 3D barcode on my mobile for them to scan and then order). Who ever gets this one after us is going to be getting a mint condition low mileage car.
I was embarrassed about a slight bit of dirt on the rear valance so I gave her a full interior and exterior clean, I can't have her go to a dealer dirty, that would be so wrong.

I couldn't count how many ruddy bulbs are on her. About 30 on the outside alone.

And that's nothing compared to LED lights!

I wonder will American readers, who often obsess about VW's alleged quality issues, be surprised that a car that's mechanically identical to a Golf should not give trouble? Taxi drivers here buy lots of them and come back for more.

The Superb is essentially an Audi A6/VW Passat. The Octavia is on a Golf platform.
My friend's 2011 Superb II Estate taxi has 100,5000miles on the clock and had no issues other than natural wear and tear such as tyres, brake disks, oil, wiper blades, etc... he loves it. I was actually on my way to clean his car yesterday when the light finally got too much and I wanted it looked at. Both girls now look fantastic and as new again.

That's not an Octavia? No, the badge is a clue now that I look at it!

Lol. She's a pre-FL 2013 Superb estate.
I honestly can't rate this car enough.

Are Europeans more anal about manitenance than americans?
I work in a shop and I have dealt with VW, they aren't bad, but people don't do oil changes when needed, they beat them up and expect them to keep going well past 10k miles on an oil change using terrible conventional oil.
I am starting a new job at Volvo, and all the work I've done on them has always been oil changes where the owner is thousands over for an oil change, or never did an air filter or any other work Volvo requires.

Judging by the number of vehicles you see with one headlight, I'm guessing not!
